The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops have blessed the Sunday before the feast of St. Silas, the patron saint of prison ministry, as Prison Ministry Awareness Sunday.
This year we remember this sacred ministry on July 25, 2021.
This is a crucial day to spread the word that Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry, the national prison ministry of the Orthodox Church, ministers to prisoners across the United States.
Let your priest and parish know about this important date and be sure to include it in your parish calendar. An implementation package to help you promote this important day will be mailed to your priest in early June.
Together, let us obey the Lord’s commandment to visit Him in prison (“I was in prison and you visited me.” – Matthew 25:36)
